Haven TV show - Matte Painting Element

In this scene the house is alive and attempting to kill the lead character. The floor collapses and the character takes a running jump over the gap.

The final image is from a shot at the end of the same episode. The effects team animated some bricks rebuilding themselves as the house slows begins to come back alive. This was a fun shot to do, there was no real brief other than the camera is looking down on the house which has been destroyed by a fire. I took the initiative to go practical with this environment, for no other reason than I wanted to have fun with it! So i headed out to the craft store and purchased a some wood, glue, paints and brushes and threw together what you see in the photo. Apparently the director really liked it, and was surprised by the practical approach.
